Bandhan (Bengali: বন্ধন) is a Bengaliromanticfamily drama movie released in 2004. It was directed by Rabi Kinagi, and featured Jeet, Koyel Mullick in a double role, and Victor Banerjee in the lead role. Bandhan was a huge success in west Bengal and was a blockbuster at the box office. It was the highest grossing Bengali film of 2004.[1] The film was a remake of the Telugu film Santosham and the Tamil film Unnai Thedi.
Plot[edit]
The story is one of the pivotal characters, Mina (Koel Mallick) narrating the story so far and introducing the family members Everybody is very kind and loved her very much, but his father (Victor Banerjee) is very strict and angry person. Mina is no more. Her husband Rohit (Jeet) and son Rony (Master Angshu) live in Singapore, but they have no contact with Mina's family because Mina had married against her family's will. Presently, Chumki, Mina's cousin is to get married. Her mother Sabitri Devi and most of her family wants Rohit to be a part of the wedding but her father is against it. However Sabitri Devi is stubborn and ultimately succeeds in being able to invite Rohit for the wedding. Rohit is welcomed by the entire family except Pratap Narayan and his son. Rohit is constantly humiliated by the two of them but he doesn't lose hope and does not get hostile. He also explains to Rony as to why he is unwanted in the family. Meanwhile, Mina's twin sister, Rina (Koel Mallick) comes home. Rony looks up to her as his mother while Rohit and she get closer. Rohit and Rony are slowly accepted by Pratap Narayan but things complicate again when Rina's marriage is fixed elsewhere. Rina insists on marrying Rohit but he does not want to face the family rejection again. In the meantime, a letter written by Rina and addressed to Rohit falls into Pratap Narayan's hands and he drives Rohit out of his house again. Things finally are settled and Pratap Narayan goes to the station to get Rohit back.

Amar Bondhu Rashed (Bengali: আমার বন্ধু রাশেদ English: My Friend Rashid) is a 2011 Bangladeshi film directed by Morshedul Islam, known for making indie movies.[1][2] The story is based on the novel Amar Bondhu Rashed by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal. and set during the Bangladesh Liberation war and Bangladesh Genocide.[3][4][5] The movie was released on 1 April 2011.[6]

This a story of a boy named Ibu during Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. He lives in a small town. The main character Rashed suddenly appears at his school. Rashed, the name was given by the class teacher at the first day at school. In 1971, when other students are not conscious about the liberation movement Rashed could understand the matters. Rashed started to motivate others to make understand those matters. One day, Pakistani army attacks the town and Rashed observes the battle. He and his friends start to help the Mukti Bahini.

Production[edit]
Amar Bondhu Rashed was based on the novel of the same name by professor Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and was adapted by Filmmaker Morshedul Islam.[9] This is the second collaboration between Zafar Igbal and Morshedul Islam following Dipu Number 2.[10] It was jointly produced by Monon Chalachitra and Impress Telefilm Ltd and was partially funded by a grant from the Government of Bangladesh. Ashirbad Chalachitra was the distributor of the film.[11]
Release[edit]
Amar Bondhu Rashed was released on 1 April 2011 in Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, and Dinajpur in Bangladesh. The premier of the movie was held in Star Cineplex in Dhaka.[6][11] The Pabna DistrictPolice and Pathshala, a non-profit organization, jointly organized the screening of the movie in 30 school and colleges in the district.[12] The movie was screen at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology where the write of the book, Muhammad Zafar Iqbal, is a faculty member.[13] On 23 May 2011, it was screen in Manikganj District.[14] On 16 July 2011 the movie was screened at Rajshahi University.[15] The movie was screened at the 7th annual South Asian Film Festival in 2012.[16] It was screened at the 6th International Children's Film Festival, organized by Children's Film Society of Bangladesh, in Khulna in 2013.[17] The movie was screened at a film festival organized by the Theatre and Film Department of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 2013.[18]
Reception[edit]
Tamana Khan wrote in her review for The Daily Star wrote that it was a 'commendable effort to bring something entertaining for children but one that could have been done with a little more finesse'. She praised the attempt but felt the adaption did not develop the relationship between the characters by leaving out some of the scenes from the book.[19] The Daily Star placed it on a list of 'essential Bangla movies for children' list in 2015 and on a list of 5 'memorable films' on the Bangladesh Liberation war in 2017.[20][21] It has 8.2 stars on Imdb from 2463 ratings.[22]
